Worsfold First To Commit Future To The Club

Ashley Worsfold is Gainsborough Trinity’s first player to commit to the club for the 2019/20 season, having signed for the club following the confirmation that Liam King and Ross Hannah were keen to take the job.

The news of the signing broke yesterday evening on Chairman Richard Kane’s Social Media account, the Blues’ supremo obviously delighted at the commitment of 22 goal Worsfold, for what will be his fourth season with the Holy Blues, having initially signed for the club under Dominic Roma.

A hardworking centre forward, with an eye for goal, Worsfold has finished top marksman in each of the last three campaigns currently standing on 58 goals in all competitions and will be eager to add to his tally going into the next campaign.

"I am more than happy about signing for another season and am already looking forward to next season under Kingy and Ross. They were obviously a massive factor in me agreeing to another season at the club. I think we have a good chance of getting promoted next year and I want to be here for that. I have always been so well looked after by everyone at the club. It’s a great place to be, we didn’t quite make it this year, but I’ll be giving it my all to go even better next year!"

The management team were obviously delighted to have secured an integral part of their plans ahead of next season, so soon after the final whistle yesterday, with Liam King enthusing, "The declaration that Ash is committing his future to the club, as a result of our appointment is fantastic. He is a great lad and has scored a lot of goals. We’re proud that he wants to be part of the journey we are about to embark on and he is a flagship statement of intent for next season."

Long may Ash continue firing in the goals for the Holy Blues, as the club targets a return to the National League North next season.
