Where there’s a Will, there’s a way

Gainsborough Trinity have today moved to secure the services of Doncaster Rovers’ forward thinking player, Will Longbottom, on an initial month’s loan. Will Longbottom, who made his first team debut for Rovers as a second half substitute back in May 2016, scored his first senior goal in the EFL Cup, later that same year. As part of his development, Longbottom has spent spells out on loan at both Kidderminster Harriers and Halesowen Town, before this week arriving at the Martin & Co Arena.

At twenty years of age, and with goals against Derby County and Southport in his fledgling career, these all point to making Will an exciting addition to the Gainsborough Trinity squad. Of his new addition, Lee Sinnott revealed, "We have observed Will (Longbottom) over the same period of time as Max (Watters, who came in last week and netted on debut away at Mickleover Sports). Longbottom is a left sided footballer who is very comfortable on the ball and likes to plays. He’s equally as comfortable on the left side as he is in the middle of a three. We needed a little injection with the unavailability of Alex Simmons and Ross Hannah and are delighted to have Will on board, as there was other interest in him. This deal goes to show the burgeoning relationship we have with Doncaster Rovers."

Having signed on a youth loan, initially for a month, Longbottom admitted, "I’m looking forward to getting started. I’ve had too many injuries in the past, so the main thing for me is to stay fit and help to team as much as I can." The new man, who is part of the same youth setup as Branden Horton & Max Watters, revealed, "I’ve heard all good things about the club and that we’re in a good position at the moment. Hopefully we can push on. The lads have mentioned it’s a great club, so I’m really looking forward to it!"
