Trio of Signings

Trio of Signings

Gainsborough Trinity have today moved to bolster their threadbare squad with a trio of signings. Joining the Holy Blues are, for a third spell, Jonny Margetts and goalkeeping pair, Marcus Dewhurst and James Pollard. Forward, Margetts arrives on loan from Lincolnshire neighbours, Boston United until January, as Blues' boss Lee Sinnott looks to increase the teams chance/conversion rate.

"I worked with Jonny for a month when I was at Altrincham , he's a bright forward who works angles to get shots away. He's aggressive in the way he wants to score goals. He's hungry and still only 25 years of age." The boss continued, "Margetts has a good pedigree, like the others do and he'll supplement what we have already, really well."

Dewhurst, a teenage goalkeeper, capped in the summer for England at the u17s European Championships, joins on loan, initially for a month from Championship high fliers Sheffield United, where he is a highly regarded member of their academy set up.

The boss declared, "With Jon picking up his injury that looks likely to keep him out for three weeks. We made a few enquires and were pleased with the response from Sheffield United, allowing us to secure the signature of Marcus. We're delighted to have him on board. Having represented his country, it shows what other people think of him and we're really grateful to Sheffield United for allowing him to join us."

James Pollard, has also signed dual registration forms. The 'keeper has been training with Trinity already, and is well known to goalkeeper coach, Charlie Cresswell. He recently sprung to prominence following a fine double save in the recently televised FA Cup games and provides additional cover in the goalkeeping department.

Lee Sinnott concluded, "Pollard is familiar to the management, and his team mates having already trained with us. And it made sense to be covered in a crucial position, but to ensure he is still able to play games and continue his development playing games for Maltby."

We welcome all three to the football club and wish them all the best as they join the #TrinityFamily. The Holy Blues are at home this evening as we welcome table toppers Scarborough Athletic to the Martin & Co Arena, kick off 19:45.
