Trinity Boosted to the Max

Trinity Boosted to the Max

Gainsborough Trinity are delighted to announce the signing of Max Watters on loan from Doncaster Rovers for a month initially. Max has caught the eye of management duo, Lee Sinnott and John Reed in a couple of EFL Academy u23 games at Doncaster including scoring in a 1-1 draw with Rotherham United earlier this week. On signing for Doncaster Rovers in the summer, Watters stepped up from Step 8 side Ashford United where he had played 27 times, scoring regularly as he played across the midfield and up top.

The youngster has also represented England at under 18 level, where he was part of the joint winning Home Nations side, for which he played a starring role in the tournament with a clutch of goals and assists. With Evo-Stik Northern Premier League experience at Grantham Town, where he scored four times in 21 appearances, young Max was on the mark against Stafford Rangers, grabbing a brace away at Workington and including netting a spectacular individual goal against North Ferriby.

From the same setup that lent us the impressive Branden Horton, Max comes into the Trinity squad ahead of the trip to Mickleover Sports tomorrow. Of the new recruit, boss Lee Sinnott declared: "Max is very impressive, he runs well with the ball and makes things happen. He has experience at this level with Grantham Town. He's positive, direct and has a nice touch for a big lad with a decent cross on him and a mean shot. He's the type of forward that asks defenders questions and the couple of times we have watched him he has been a real handful We're grateful to Grant McCaan and Cliff Byrne at Doncaster for allowing Max the opportunity to continue his development with us."

In other news, Jonathan Margetts returns to Boston United following his loan spell that saw him net twice during his stay, including the crucial first in New Days’ fine two nil victory away from home at Matlock. We thank him for his time whilst at the club and wish him all the best in the future.

Gainsborough travel to Mickleover tomorrow. 3pm kick off at the Don Amott Stadium, we hope as many travelling supporters can make the journey as we continue our promotion challenge against one of the form sides in the league at the moment.
