Squad Building: Round Up & Update

Squad Building: Round Up & Update

As May turns to June, Liam King and Ross Hannah can take a step back and look at a hectic three months at the helm, with a large chunk of their ideal eighteen man squad assembled early.

Work began on the recruitment and retention of next season's squad, virtually as soon as the final whistle blew following Trinity's final day defeat to South Shields.

Joe Green

Following the decision that King & Hannah would continue, three time top scorer Ashley Worsfold was first to commit. Defensive stability followed with centre backs Nathan Stainfield and Joe Maguire lengthening their stays before Simon Russell and Tom Davie pledged their allegiance to the Blue Army.

The first batch of new recruits penned deals next with Nathan Hotte from Alfreton, Jamie Green from Handsworth Parramore and feared non-league marksman Gavin Allott joining from Boston, all signing within a few days of each other.

Two former Guiseley men agreed switches to the Martin & Co Arena, led by loan goalkeeper Joe Green. Highly experienced midfield general Kingsley James promises to be a marquee signing. Right Back Sam Topliss was next to join, departing Cleethorpes Town to join Liam King's Trinity revolution.

Nathan Hotte

Attacking flair was added in the form of pace winger Rod Orlando Young, before 17 year old Elliot Wilson moved to join the party. Shane Clarke, adding coaching responsibility to his role completed the May business for the Holy Blues. There is just over a month to go until the first pre-season friendly when we host Lincoln City & Lincoln United in the Community Festival of Lincolnshire Football on the 6th July!
