Spennymoor Town Match Preview

Attentions turn to the FA Cup this week, as Gainsborough Trinity return to familiar faces Spennymoor Town at the weekend, looking to create a memorable cup run. Following the 1-1 draw away with York City, Trinity look to make it two positive results in a row and continue from where they left off, however the challenge of Spennymoor will be a tricky one if The Holy Blues are to progress.

Just two weeks ago we made the trip up north, knowing it would be a hard test against a strong side. However, after some resolute defending the lads came out with with a valuable point. Joe Tait scored a clamatious own goal in the previous encounter, passing the ball back to an empty net after keeper Daniel Lowson moved the opposite way.

Tom Davie's suspension will kick in on Saturday for Trinity, alongside Nathan Jarman who is still suspended. Johno Williams and Chris Salt remain out through injury until the end of the season, after picking up nasty blows at the start of the season. Despite the suspensions, Frecks still has a selection headache ahead for him, with the likes of Josh Lacey and Kern Miller putting in solid performances and could start at the weekend.

Jamie Chandler put in a solid performance against Trinity in the first encounter. The versatile midfielder controlled midfield and showed his experience on a number of occasions. Despite giving Trinity an early lead through an own goal, Joseph Tait showed his confidence throughout the game, as he went onto put Spennymoor level from the penalty spot. Make sure you back The Holy Blues and get behind them this Saturday.
