Sinnott Strengthens Management Team

Fixtures Announced

Lee Sinnott has moved swiftly to appoint the vastly experienced John Reed to his management team, a day after taking over at Gainsborough Trinity. Reed has most recently been working at Shaw Lane, where he has spent three seasons, initially working alongside Craig Elliott prior to his move to Boston United last season, then in a similar capacity to Elliott's replacement, Paul Quinn.

Of the arrival of his assistant, Lee Sinnott enthused, "I am delighted to have John on board with us here, he has a vast amount of knowledge and experience that will come in useful for Gainsborough, not only in the immediate term, but also into the future. I have managed against John in the past and we have had some great battles. He is someone I have always admired and am pleased that now is the time that this is happening. I am really looking forward to working with him, both on the training ground and on the touch line on a match day."

Speaking to Reed, it was immediately obvious the traits that he would bring to the role. A positive energy coarsed through the new Trinity number two as he declared "Football has certainly been kind to me, ten titles, 19 years in management and over 2,000 games in coaching and management."

But he's quick to point out, hard work and happiness is at the centre of his successes. "A happy dressing room, with everyone fighting together for the same cause can almost give you ten points a season. We Will be working hard to put those foundations into place as well as working on the team shape in the coming weeks as we really look to pull our league form around."

Reed cannot wait to get started, "Since the news first broke, my phone has been ringing off the hook, but now I'm looking forward to getting down to business at training tomorrow night. "Things have moved very quickly since Lee rang me on Monday evening after he got the job - and I had the task of speaking to the Chairman and Chief Executive at Shaw Lane. It wasn't a nice thing to have to do, but it needed doing as the opportunity to test myself again was fantastic. It's a great challenge, a tough one, but I personally believe we can steer the club in the right direction. One things for certain, it won't be for a lack of effort!"

As well as being a part of the management team at Shaw Lane, Reed has managed at Stalybridge Celtic, Harrogate Town. Buxton, Ossett Town and Scarborough have also benefited from the knowledge and expertise John Reed brings to the club, along with a thick book of players. Reed finished by saying, "Everyone starts with a brand new, clean slate. If we need to bring in players to improve us, we wont hesitiate to do just that, but right now, I know, we are both just very excited about getting going tomorrow night!"

We all join together in welcoming John to the football club and hope that their new, fledgling partnership is a successful one. Welcome to the #TrinityFamily #inittogether
