Leamington FC Preview

Following the final pre-season clash for Trinity, which saw a young XI fall short to a young Doncaster side, all eyes now focus onto Saturday where our National League campaign kicks-off, as we entertain Leamington at the Martin & Co Arena. The Holy Blues pre-season has been an extremely positive one, as Dave and Terry now look to have their desired squad going into the season. Testing several formations, trialists and tactics, the season ahead is going to be a thrilling one for sure!

Who are Leamington?

Based in Warwickshire, Leamington are one of the newcomers to the division, following promotion to the National League after a dramatic end to their 2016/17 campaign. Last season saw them finish as Premier Division runners-up, and after beating Slough Town 1-0 in the play-off semi-finals, they narrowly beat Hitchin Town 2-1 after extra time to secure promotion. The Brakes have several standout players who were instrumental in last season’s promotion winning season. In particular, Rob Thompson-Brown and Courtney Baker-Richardson. Both players operate as attacking options for Paul Holleran’s squad, and with plenty of pace in abundance, it’s clear to see the threat they pose this season.
