Harrogate Town Preview

The Holy Blues look to bounce back from an unfortunate defeat to Blyth Spartans, as promotion contenders Harrogate Town visit the Martin & Co Arena. Talking to Gainsborough Trinity TV, Gaffer Dave Frecklington highlighted the importance of Saturdays fixture, whilst admitting his side cannot afford to be as sloppy defensively against a full time club. "We can't keep blaming the defence, when we cleared the ball we didn't manage to keep hold of it up top, we wasn't brave enough in midfield to try and get a pass off the full-backs, and when your losing so early in the game it's hard work".

The boss added, "So it's worrying that we're conceding so many goals, and we've got to seriously address ourselves and get ready for Harrogate, which will be an even tougher game on Saturday".

Harrogate couldn't have asked for a much better start to their season, winning three out of four of their opening fixtures, whilst impressively drawing away to Stockport County. Scoring twelve goals too, a number of Simon Weaver's men could cause problems for the Trinity back line. Familiar face Jordan Thewlis Harrogate Town Previewlooks set to start for Town, the frontman has already scored four goals for Harrogate, and with Simon Ainge also in contention to start, The Holy Blues' defence will need to be in form if they're to stop two of the National League North's most prolific scorers.

Trinity also await the news on injured midfielder Jonathan Williams, who suffered a nasty knock to the knee against Nuneaton. Trinity Boss Frecklington also stated Williams will be going to have a scan very soon. "He's got a scan booked in, and once the swellings gone down he'll get the scan, but obviously there is a lot of swelling at the minute and it dosent look great. There's no damage to the bone which is a positive".

Dave also gave us an update on the rest of his squads injured list. "Tom Davie is unavailable through injury, who's been good, Jono Williams injured, Alex Simmons isn't one-hundred percent and Chris Salt. Two players in the back four who are a big miss, but we do have enough in the group to compete."

Make sure you get down to the Martin & Co Arena on Saturday, and cheer the lads on as we face another tough test. Kick-Off is at 3:00pm and the prices are as follows: Adults £12, Concessions £8, Under 16's £4, Pre School are Free.
