Trinity Reserves - Half Yearly Report

Buxton Fixture Postponed

Gainsborough Trinity Reserves began the season more in hope, rather than expectation, with a group of players assembled over the long hot summer, given the honour of playing for Gainsborough Trinity in our inaugural season.

Headed up by Jimmy Snee, Leeboy Green and Karl Slack, the management trio were optimistic of the chances, however the players have delivered well above any real expectations. Buoyed on by the home surroundings that is the Northolme and encouraged to play on the deck from back to front, some of the performances have been outstanding, bringing plaudits from numerous opponents, and spectators alike.

A home win to start the season off was just the tonic needed. Followed by two successive defeats which could easily have derailed the young team, since that defeat on September 1st, the Reserves haven't lost in the league, something the lads are extremely proud of. At the time of going to press, Gainsborough Trinity Reserves sit proudly at the top of the league, reaching the semi-final of the supplementary cup, due to play at home v Wyberton on Saturday 16th March, which is something to look forward to, and a date for your diary!

Reserves’ boss, Jimmy Snee commented, “Our aim was to be competitive week in week out and hopefully provide First Team Manager, Lee Sinnott with some promising young talent, good enough to push for first team places. So far, several lads have already had that experience and I can assure you, they loved every minute of it.”

At the half way point in the season, it is important to thank all of the volunteers, who have so selflessly given their money and time to get this project up and running, not to mention the loyal Trinity fans who have supported Gainsborough Trinity Reserves, home and away. Long may it continue! With an average home gate of a hundred, there’s clearly an appetite for what the football club is trying to provide. Please continue to support this group of players, as together the future of football in Gainsborough will look very bright.
