A second successive 1-0 win on the road for Gainsborough Trinity, saw the Holy Blues continue their build up to Saturday 5th August's Vanarama National League North opener at home to Leamington. This time, a Jonathan Wafula finish six minutes before half time was the difference between the two sides and with clear cut chances at a premium, Trinity's second victory, and second clean sheet in five days was hardly in doubt.

When Ash Worsfold was crudely dumped on his backside on the halfway line, following a firm challenge from behind, Alex Wiles was on hand to take the free kick quickly. His ball out to Craig King saw the ex Salford City man break to the edge. King having the presence of mind to tee up Wafula for the simplest of finishes.

Frecklington rang the changes at the break, as did his opposite number Spencer Fearne. And the referee had to have eyes everywhere as things threatened to bubble over.
