Brackley Town Match Preview

The Holy Blues have the perfect opportunity to put their FA Cup defeat behind them when they make the trip to South Northamptonshire on Saturday afternoon. Before that emotional defeat to Slough Town, Trinity had been unbeaten in seven, winning five of those contests. With players in form, including Michael Jacklin who won the Vanarama National League North Player of the Month for October, Dave Frecklington will be hoping his side can build upon the lessons learnt from last weekend.

Trinity always offer a threat going forward with Alfreton Town the only team in the bottom half of the table to have scored more goals than the Holy Blues. Bradley Wells had been particularly potent with four goals in six games during October, whilst Nathan Jarman scored in three consecutive matches during the same period. However, Brackley Town hold the joint best defence in the league and have recently forged a good spell of form to move up to third in the Vanarama Football League North. A midweek victory in the Hillier Cup was their fourth successive win, scoring 12 times in the process.

Aaron Williams and James Armson will be players to keep an eye on, with the former netting seven times and the latter scoring six already this season. With no fresh injury concerns, manager Kevin Wilkin has a full squad to choose from and that is also the case for Frecklington’s side. A point on the road could be a positive result for Trinity and that was the outcome in both meetings between the sides last season. Two goals were shared between the teams in Gainsborough before a 0-0 draw was played out in this fixture last season.

However, an accumulative total of 53 goals scored by both sides suggests that a goalless result is unlikely to be repeated and a win could put the Holy Blues just four points off the playoff places.
