Blues Boss Swoops To Land Hit-man!

Blues Boss Swoops To Land Hit-man!

Liam King and Ross Hannah have swooped to secure the signature of a striker with in excess of 330 career goals. A prolific centre forward, boasting 127 strikes for Frickley Athletic & in excess of 50 goals for Shaw Lane & Goole, thirty-three year old Gavin Allott joins following his departure from National League North side Boston United.

A solitary appearance under Paul Mitchell, is something Gavin is keen to add to, as he looks to show the Northolme faithful, his goal scoring ability that has made him one of non-league football's most feared centre forwards.

In a short spell last season, Allott struck eleven times at the higher level, finishing second top scorer for the Pilgrims, doing enough to be offered a new deal, choosing instead to sign for the ambitious Holy Blues.

Speaking to the new forward, Gavin was certain, "Joining Gainsborough was an easy decision. I had spoken to a few clubs, but after I had spoken to Liam and Ross and heard what they have planned for next season, it was a no brainer. I have known Ross (from our time together at Belper) & Liam through football over the years. A big draw for me, as a player, is that the management have a great knowledge of the players at this level and higher and they seem determined to put together a competitive side. I want to do the best that I can as a player – and that’s winning things."

Starting out with the likes of Parkgate & Dinnington, Allott moved on to Belper, Goole & Guiseley, the front man now returns to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier with Gainsborough under no illusions about how strong the league will be.

"This is a very tough league. The centre backs are tough and uncompromising, but I know how to keep myself fit and give myself the best chance. I have known Ash for years. We played together many years ago at Goole, and I am sure we will combine well. I enjoy the physicality of the battle, and will look to lead the line, run the channels and generally work hard for the team".

On the signing of Allott, the Trinity boss could barely wait to formally welcome him on board, "A big welcome to the football club, I am delighted to get Gav on board. He is a proven, top striker who gives you a presence up there and will score goals. He will cause defenders lots of problems and will no doubt be a big player for us next season."

Certainly speaking to the new man, he knows what the game is all about and what is needed to see us challenging for honours this season. Welcome to the club Gavin, may you have a long and successful spell in Gainsborough Trinity blue.
