Away Match vs Bradford Park Avenue Preview

Managerless Trinity face a trip to West Yorkshire to face Bradford Park Avenue, hoping to put their defeat to Alfreton behind them as they begin to search for Dominic Roma’s successor. Gainsborough currently sit in seventeenth place, only four points ahead of Bradford PA who occupy twentieth place in the relegation zone. This won’t be the easiest of tests for the Holy Blues’ who lost Dominic Roma as manager at the end of last weekend, but Adam Quinn and Matt Wilson will be keen to make an impact after being put in charge on a temporary basis.

Bradford PA haven’t exactly had a fruitful season to date but after picking up a vital three points in a hard-fought victory against mid-table Curzon Ashton last weekend they will no doubt want to capitalise on that and climb out of the relegation zone. With both sides having their own motivations to take all three points at the Horsfall Stadium on Saturday, this match is going to be unmissable, so make sure you get yourself down to the Horsfall!

The Avenue have scored 27 goals in total this season, as opposed to the 55 goals they have conceded. Bradford PA, have only recorded two clean sheets all season in the league so perhaps we could be in for a goal-fest this coming weekend? With four goals, Chris Sharp is Bradford PA’s top scorer, one clear of well-travelled Emile Sinclair.

We have already hosted the Avenue this season at the Martin & Co Arena. That fixture ended in a 1-1 draw on the opening day of the season. Gavin Rothery netted for the Holy Blues’ that day with Liam Dickson stealing a point for his side, scoring in the 91st minute of the game. Our last visit to the Horsfall Stadium ended up being a rout for the Holy Blues’ who were 4-1 victors in April of 2016. Interestingly, following that result, a certain Dominic Roma was confirmed as permanent manager, having helped direct Trinity clear of relegation after taking over temporarily in March. However, in the home fixture earlier that season it was Avenue who secured the three points, winning 1-0. Currently, Trinity hold a two-game winning streak over PA in away games, could we witness a third victory this weekend at the Horsfall Stadium and ascend higher up in the National League North league table?
