Gainsborough secured their first win of the season as two second half goals capped a good performance from Dominic Roma's men. Ashley Worsfold opened the scoring just after the break before Gavin Rothery sealed the win with a late tap in. It was a much better display from the Blues and one that put to bed the three defeats in a row. The Blues were defensively sound and finally got that rub of the green in front of goal that Trinity boss Roma said 'would even itself out over the season'.

Gainsborough fell to a third straight defeat as a clinical Harrogate Town ran out winners at the Martin and Co Arena. Two quality first half finishes was enough to separate the sides with the highlight a 25 yard thunderbolt from Lloyd Kerry. Blues boss Dominic Roma made four changes to the Trinity sides that suffered back to back defeats in their last two outings.

Despite falling behind to a superb curling strike from the right hand angle of the penalty area, by Omar Bogle, Trinity dug in and levelled through Jacob Hazel from the penalty spot after Matt Thornhill had been chopped down as he surged into the box.

Gainsborough Trinity conceded four goals away from home for the second time in four days as Gloucester City made Trinity pay for sloppy defending and a failure to take the chances they were presented with. Inside eight minutes, Trinity had the chance to settle any nerves left over from the Alfreton defeat on Tuesday. Nathan Jarman blazing his spot kick over the bar after Gavin Rothery had picked out the run of Ashley Worsfold, who turned the full back inside out before winning the penalty.

Brad Beatson is the latest to pen a deal with Gainsborough Trinity following a successful period on trial at the club. Beatson, who was at Sheffield Wednesday last season was one of only three players to be awarded a professional contract at Hillsborough last season, having impressed whilst playing for the u18s.

A goal-less draw for Trinity away at Worksop Town doesn’t paint the best of pictures for Trinity fans, but those that made the short trip from Gainsborough couldn’t help but come away feeling impressed with the way Dominic Roma’s side approached the game. Never really looking troubled at the back, Roma’s new look side looked a constant threat going forwards, with neat link up and clever interchanges some of the Blues’ interplay in the final third was a joy to behold – and with fitness continuing to improve as the team get minutes into their legs – the goals will surely follow.
