FC United of Manchester Match Preview

Lee Sinnott’s Gainsborough Trinity side will be looking to finish the season on a high with three points following their relegation from the National League North last weekend. Defeat against AFC Telford United confirmed that the club would be playing in the Evo-Stik League as they were relegated for the first time in their 145-year history. Trinity were 2-0 up against Telford but three goals in the space of 14 minutes sent the Holy Blues down.

North Ferriby 0 Gainsborough Trinity 1

Gainsborough Trinity secured back-to-back league wins for the first time since January when they beat already relegated North Ferriby United thanks to a 29th minute Ashley Worsfold penalty. Visiting side Trinity managed to put the long-standing record of not having scored in 11 consecutive away league games to bed and held on to secure all three points as they bid to survive relegation from the Vanarama National League North.

Brandon Fleming from Hull Tigers

Brandon Fleming has today joined Gainsborough Trinity on an initial months loan. Joining from Championship side Hull City, where he has made one solitary first team appearance. Fleming appeared in the Tigers' EFL cup defeat to Doncaster Rovers back in the Autumn. An attacking left back, with an eye for goal, Brandon is fresh into his second year as a professional having originally signed pro-forms in January 2017.

AFC Telford United 3 Gainsborough Trinity 2

Gainsborough Trinity were relegated from the Vanarama National League North in a dramatic clash against AFC Telford United at the New Bucks Head on a sunny April afternoon. The clubs top goal scorer Ashley Worsfold scored a brace, but Ryan Giles provided three assists for all of Telford’s goals – two from Marcus Dinanga, one from captain Shane Sutton. Sadly, Worsfold’s goals either side of both halves were not enough to save Trinity who suffered relegation for the first time in their 145-year existence – an admittedly proud accolade for the Blues of Lincolnshire even in this time of desolation.

Gainsborough Trinity FC are proud to announce the launch of our Saturday Reserves team, in time for the start of the 2018/19 season in the Lincolnshire Football League. The Reserves team will create even more opportunities for, amongst others, our U18s players, who have been playing successfully in the Lincolnshire Intermediate League for many years, and we are looking forward to developing these players to go into the Reserves team for the 2018/19 season and beyond.

Walker Wings Way To Trinity

Gainsborough Trinity boss Lee Sinnott has moved to bolster his attacking options with the acquisition of pacey left winger Nicky Walker from Shaw Lane AFC. Walker, who started his career at Rotherham United, spent time out on loan at Barrow in the National League, Wycombe Wanderers and Grimsby Town, prior to signing for league rivals Boston United on a free transfer.

Fixtures Announced

Lee Sinnott has moved swiftly to appoint the vastly experienced John Reed to his management team, a day after taking over at Gainsborough Trinity. Reed has most recently been working at Shaw Lane, where he has spent three seasons, initially working alongside Craig Elliott prior to his move to Boston United last season, then in a similar capacity to Elliott's replacement, Paul Quinn.
