This weekend, Trinity travel to North Yorkshire to face Harrogate Town in what can only be described as a vital contest for the Holy Blues’. Trinity will be hoping to put some more distance between themselves and the relegation zone in the National League North. Gainsborough currently sit in nineteenth place, only four points from above the drop. However, manager Dominic Roma believes his side can capitalise on their recent run of good form which has seen the Holy Blues’ go unbeaten in their last three league matches.

The wait may be agonising for Gainsborough fans but manager Dominic Roma is “pleased to have a bit of a break” after his side suffered their fourth consecutive league defeat in dramatic fashion to FC United of Manchester this past Saturday.

Looking Ahead to FC United of Manchester

National League North duties resume this weekend for Gainsborough Trinity, who host FC United of Manchester at the Martin & Co Arena, 3pm this Saturday, attempting to get back to winning ways and resurrect their impressive home form seen earlier in the season. Trinity currently occupy 18th place in the league table after suffering three consecutive league defeats to Chorley, Stockport County, and Kidderminster Harriers respectively.

Gainsborough were left to hang on for a point at home to Worcester as a late onslaught almost sent all three points down to Worcestershire. Ashley Worsfold had put Trinity ahead with a cool finish before Steven Craig headed home unmarked from a corner. Former Premier League forward Lee Hughes rattled the crossbar late on as Trinity defended stoically for the last half hour.

Festive Cheer as Blues Boosted by Noel signing

Exciting and highly versatile forward player Noel Burdett has signed for Gainsborough Trinity, on loan from near neighbours Scunthorpe United until the end of the season. Burdett originally signed for the Iron in January 2007. Born in Doncaster, Burdett can play all the way across midfield as well as up front and his signing boosts the options in Dominic Roma’s squad after a difficult period in front of goal during November, which had seen a previously free scoring Trinity side net only once in the month (Jordan Thewlis’ strike in the 4-1 AET defeat away at Alfreton Town in the FA Trophy).
